I had a really good time working on compositions with bisons in the snow in Yellowstone. This one was kind enough to come walk into the perfect spot to show off the snowy hills of Little America.

Chance Encounter

I was out for a hike when I came around a corner and found myself face to face with this American Bison. I’m not sure who was more surprised to see whom. After making sure nobody was about to make any sudden moves, we eased past each other and continued on our walks.

Obviously there was no way I was leaving Yellowstone without doing a pano of a bison, right? This old guy was kind enough to walk most of the length of Lamar Valley, giving me plenty of opportunities to compose this shot.
