Overview
Lake Lagunitas is a reservoir for the Marin Municipal Water District. The lake is ringed by an gently rolling trail located up a short but moderately steep climb from the parking lot. A parking fee applies to access the park.
The park is in a moderate valley that blocks the sun an hour before sunset.
Species
Acorn Woodpecker
Lake Lagunitas is a reliable place to photograph acorn woodpeckers. The woodpeckers can be found all around the lake, especially to the south and east. Parts of the trail are elevated above isolated trees the woodpeckers gather on. These trees are just in range of a 600 mm lens.
