This Polar Bear showed up on our last day of my tour with @discover_churchill. We spotted it napping on the fall tundra as soon as we drove out of Churchill, with just hours to go before we had to check in for our flight. It was a pretty restless bear, so we soon got some action as it woke up and started searching for a new spot. That led to some great photos, and also some tense moments.

This was the day I was most grateful for the help of guides @jimmy_pawistik and @tomastaylorart. Not just finding the bears, but knowing how to let them approach us, hold our position to get amazing shots, and move as a group when needed to keep the situation safe for us and the bear. There were some high adrenaline moments for those of us who haven’t photographed bears before, but it always felt safe and under control. I couldn’t imagine going out and getting on the ground with polar bears without that kind of steady guidance.
