Badger Claws

An American Badger outside her burrow. This is the best shot I’ve gotten of a badger with claws showing. Just a bit of grass in the way, but I’m still pretty happy with it. Let’s see what I can manage when I get my next sighting… in three months if the trend continues.

Happy Easter from Point Reyes! To go with our Black-Tailed Deer, the west has the Black-Tailed Jackrabbits. Many other species of hare also have black tails, so I can only assume the taxonomists decided to go easy on us with coincidental naming.
