This Tule Elk bull popped up onto a dune to challenge another bull. The red plant, while striking, is unfortunately invasive ice plant.

There’s another invasive species in Point Reyes, and this one is even worse: politically connected interests who’ve managed to keep wild Tule Elk enclosed in a water and nutrient poor section of the park to prevent them from competing with commercial ranches.
